Why Our Focus is on Puppy Training
After spending years training and rehabilitating dogs in Northern California, we began to realize how many of our client's dogs were suffering from behavioral problems that could have been avoided had the puppies gotten the essential social and training experiences in their first four months of life. How shocking and saddening it was for us to discover that nearly every extreme case of aggression, separation anxiety, fear, and major aversion to a particular element of training (ex: crate training or potty training) was due to a lack of preventative training in the puppy's first critical 16 weeks of life.
Preparing Your Puppy for Life
Owning a puppy is a lot of fun but it also a big responsibility. As your puppy's owner, master and best friend it is important that you teach your puppy the life skills he/she will need to succeed in life. A few of these are...
House Train - From teacup breeds to Great Danes every dog is capable of being house or "potty" trained.
Encourage Bite Control and Bite Inhibition- Puppies must be taught when it is appropriate to use their teeth.
Socialize, Socialize, Socialize - This cannot be understated! Socialization with men, women, children, dogs, puppies and other animals is an essential element of puppy training.
Obedience Train -Obedience training may be done successfully during any point in a dog's life. It is, however, a great deal easier to begin the training at the puppy stage.
